Weah, last Saturday received a Master of Public Administration Degree (MPA) from the Devry University in Miami, Florida the USA, fortifying a major lapse in his quest for the Liberian presidency.
The political leader of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change has been linked to a possible run for the Montserrado County Senatorial seat in the 2014 Mid Term elections which is only a few months away.
In June 2011, Weah Weah began the march to silence his critics when he graduated from DeVry University with a degree in Business Management.
At the time, Weah revealed that he had always wanted to get a college degree, but never had the chance to do so because of his professional football career. "We all often strive to have college degrees. Some did, some never had the opportunity and some waited until the appropriate time was afforded. So, in my case, it is something I have always strived for, but I never had the opportunity because of my [football] career. And so, what I did, I did online courses. But, after my career, I decided to go back to class because it is the right thing to do, and I am very glad, and I made my parents and even my critics proud," the football legend told the Voice of America.
Weah came under fire in the 2005 presidential elections after questions about his education lapses surfaced dealing serious blow to his quest for the presidency.
At the time, Weah's campaign struggled to fight off inconsistencies about his credentials after a degree from the notorious Parkwood University popped up on a resume posted on his campaign's website. Parkwood was a known degree mill. Weah at the time remarked: "I have a degree but I don't have a degree. It's on my resume but I didn't put it there. It's on my website but I didn't put it there. It' must be those opposition leaders trying to distract us all from the real issues. It's a good school but maybe it's not. I was misinformed."
